Introduction
Ann City, where the military headquarters of the Military Council’s Western Region is located, has been attacked by the Arakan Army (AA) in a fierce comeback attack with allied forces since October. The Western Regional Military Command’s large checkpoints, such as Suecheong strategic hill and Tawhein Daung strategic hill, have been occupied since April, Mae Taung strategic hill was captured in October, and other small checkpoints have also been occupied by the AA. After that, the 373rd Infantry Battalion, the Military Affairs Security Corps, the Medical Corps, the 372nd Infantry Battalion, and the Battlefield Engineer Corps were also captured by AA, according to local sources. It is also known that there is a shortage of food and supplies due to the military activities of both sides in Ann, where the fighting has intensified. Although the Air Force has military control over the highways, the Military Council is providing logistics by air. For the AA, the Western Regional Headquarters is a military objective and a truly important regional headquarters for the Military Council. In these circumstances, the activities of the Military Council Army and the military actions of the Arakan Army will be presented in two parts.
Military Council Force Situation
In the current battle of An, the activities of the military council troops are only defensive, and it can be seen that they are cooperating with the military commanders of the Western Region. After the fall of the Mee Taung strategic hill, which the military council relied on, at least five (5) small camps near that side of the mountain fell continuously, so the military council troops gradually began to resent the military security side of the Khmer (373) battalion. (373) and because of the bad situation of military security, they moved towards the military checkpoint again and resisted because of AA’s aggressive offensive. Even though the soldiers joined forces to resist, they could not control it, and once again they were pushed back to Ann Airport. It is known from the local that the infantry (372) battalion in the city from the airport side joined the infantry (372) battalion and cooperated to fight because the infantry (372) battalion and the battlefield engineer battalion could not resist the AA offensive. It is known that the Military Council’s infantry battalion (374) and artillery support troops are resisting the air offensive.
AA troop status
In the Battle of Ann, it is considered that AA led the joint forces and fought on at least 3 fronts with a large force. In this October, when the AA launched a heavy offensive, the infantry battalion (373) and the military check point on the entrance road of Mae Taung trategic Hill, and the military checkpoint, in addition to occupying the military’s one mile hill stations, which are in line with the Western Regional Military Headquarters, entered the column from the side of the Ann-Maei road, and the AA was also attacking from the side of the military council’s Ann-Tug Taung support route. That’s why AA is fighting at least 3 fronts against Ann City. At present, the AA controls the Military Council’s reinforcement routes and support routes, and has blockaded the town of Ann. Although AA controls the Ann-Maei road as well as the Ann-Minbya road, AA cannot control the military council’s air support. It is known that the AA has surrounded the military council troops in Ann city, and is currently conducting a ground offensive against the infantry battalion (374th) artillery unit and the military equipment storage unit, and is firing and attacking the regional military headquarters with heavy weapons.
Follow-up review
As for the next battle in the An city battle, the AA has captured the Tamai hill camp and the 372nd infantry battalion on the An-Mai road side, so a ground attack on the Western Regional Military Headquarters could happen at any time. However, since the 372nd Infantry Battalion and the 371st Infantry Battalion are close, sooner or later the 371st Infantry Battalion may fall before the Western Regional Military Headquarters. If that infantry battalion (371) is down, the AA can surround the Western Regional Command and start attacking. However, if you come to the Western Regional Military Headquarters from the side of Tamai Hill, you will have to cross the creek, and if you come from the side of the Ann Chaung (Auk Ywar) Bridge, the Military Council is in a position to destroy the Ann Chaung (Auk Ywar) Bridge. Whenever the military council loses a war, they usually break the bridge.
Conclusion
Heavy artillery fire and aerial bombardment could intensify as the military council forces are encircled in the city of Ann. As the war has reached the city, it may be more difficult for the people. As all the entrances and exits of Ann City are closed, there is a shortage of basic foodstuffs and medicine, and the price of land is rising.
