After a 5-year-old girl was sexually exploited and assaulted in Mae Sot, Thailand in April 2023, an open letter was sent to NUG with a request from 1,679 people from various regions to come forward.
It is known that U Aung Min, a child rape survivor, is a secretary of the NLD Party in Ta Tay Township. While living in Mae Sot, U Aung Min sexually assaulted the (5) year old daughter of a CDM University teacher who lived next door.
This case, which has been happening since 2023, has been addressed for more than a year, so that the action can be taken as soon as possible and addressed to the NUG. NUG also issued an arrest warrant for U Aung Min in August.
The case was investigated by the National Unity Government, the Ministry of Women and Children and the People’s Army (Southern) of Kale Township (Pa) 15/2023. The open letter pointed out that although a prosecution has been opened under Section 377 of the Penal Code, no sufficient and meaningful action has been taken yet.
