ICNCC demands replacement of two NUG ministers

The Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) has submitted to the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) to replace Union Ministers Dr. Salai Lian Sungsarok and Dr. Ngait Tam Moung who are serving in the National Unity Government NUG.

On the ICNCC side, it is said that Dr. Salai Lian Hung Sa Hok resigned on March 18, 2023, and Dr. Ngwain Tam Mong resigned on December 6, 2023. It is also known that the two of them were sent to serve as representatives of ICNCC to the NUG government and have now resigned, so they have submitted to replace the minister.

ICNCC was formed in April 2021 by the armed group CNF/A, MPs, political parties, CDM and CSOs. After the formation of the ICNCC, there were disagreements, and in April 2023, the CNF/A armed group officially withdrew. According to the statement of ICNCC, if Dr. Salai Lein Shingsa resigned on March (18), it is not clear whether he resigned as CNF/A (or as an individual).

Another point is that the National Unity Government NUG did not cooperate directly as CNF/A in the beginning, but cooperated through NUCC, and later cooperated directly as CNF/A. If the head of Dr. Liang Sungsa was not involved in NUG as ICNCC, then why did he not protest at that time?

Although it is not possible to confirm whether Dr. Ngwin Tam Mong participated in the National Unity Government NUG as ICNCC or otherwise, Dr. Salai Lian Hung Sa Hok can confirm that he participated as CNF/A.
ICNCC’s decision to replace Dr. Salai Lian Hungsa in the NUG could intensify the conflict between the ICNCC and the Chin State Council (CC) in Chin State.
