The Democracy Movement Strike Committee-Dawei (DDMSC) led a protest in Long Lon Township, Dawei District, chanting “Reject the military council census, boycott the fake election.”
DDMSC urges the people to avoid and oppose as much as possible those who are trying to conduct the census on October 1 to hold elections without providing relief while the country is in trouble.
DDMSC told Article channel that “local people and women participated in this movement.”
DDMSC has stated that the military council is planning to hold an election based on demographic information obtained from the midnight census, which will be able to shape the will of the military and that this election will not solve the current political conflicts in Myanmar, but it is only a sham election that the military leaders will use as a political outlet.
The people who are able to participate in the census and elections are urged to oppose the military leaders in any way they can, which will help prolong the arbitrary power grab by the military leaders.
