Since February 2021, a military coup has been carried out against the entire Myanmar people. After the military coup, peaceful protesting youths were violently suppressed and brutally killed. The Myanmar military also unjustly arrested political prisoners who lacked humanity and sentenced them to death.

The Indian government, which is a democratic neighboring country that is cooperating with the brutal Myanmar army, has sent an open letter with four points, including arms supply, meetings, economic cooperation, and the release of detained Burmese refugees.

The open letter reads, “The terrorist Myanmar junta is a perpetrator of genocide. They also continue to commit serious violations of international crimes including war crimes and crimes against humanity to this day. It is a complicity in atrocity crimes as much as it is a shame for India as the world’s largest democracy to continue selling arms and military equipment to the junta which is facing multiple international court proceedings. Therefore, we call on the Government of India to stop the sale and transfer of any types of arms and related equipment to the terrorist Myanmar junta”that contains.

The Indian government has also requested 268 Myanmar civil society organizations to respect the norms of democracy, human rights and humanitarianism and to review the way they approach the situation in Myanmar.
